Hi there! How is your day going?
Early last summer I began painting with gouache. I wasn't very good at it and didn't have much diversity with the thickness of the awesome stuff. But I did really like it. This was my first painting ever with gouache.
I decided that I really liked the texture, so I kept playing with it through out the summer.
At first I started just with gouache by M. Graham & Co., but recently I got another type of gouache. I didn't get very much, but I already love the texture. It is Holbein Artists Gouache. It is very bright and all the colors are so. . . satisfying!
The colors I got were brilliant pink, opera, marigold, cobalt turquoise, leaf green, and brilliant gold. All of them were so beautiful and true to their name.
Gouache is really nice for multiple reasons. It has a satisfying texture, for one. Also, you can cover up a dark color with a light color. But, you can water it down to a watercolor consistency that you can't with acrylics.
