THE CORDUROY FOX
“Hey!” I exclaim as you spot me at a small, round table for two. “How are you doing? Good? Good. Me too. Want a cookie? Are you sure? I mean, we both know I can eat all the cookies in this coffee shop, but… okay, I guess I’ll just eat them myself.”
You set your belongings down in the chair across from me and go to order a drink and a sweet. I’ve ordered English breakfast tea with a spoonful of honey, and several pastries.
As you sit down, I say, “I’m Sadie, by the way. Nice to meet you,” I reach across the table and shake your hand. “Hmmm. What should I say? Well, we’ll start with this. I live with seven billion other homo sapiens (you included) on the planet Earth, found in the Milky Way Galaxy. My home is settled in a large bowl of mountains, completed with a beautiful pasture and a flowing river to swim in. I love to ski in the winter and swim in the summer. I enjoy backpacking and almost anything outside. Year-round I climb. I love spending time with my bunny, Charlie, and my dog, Ruby. Spending an entire day outside (be it swinging in my hammock thinking, or backpacking in the mountains, occasionally resting to eat wild berries) is also a pleasure.
“Wow, I’m chatting away right now! Let’s get to the point, shall we? Okay, here we go. I love art and writing. My art is mostly watercolor, but there may be an occasional gouache (which I just started toying around with and am not that good at) or two. I love painting people, plants, or animals who bake cakes, wear clothes, and stand upright. I get my inspiration from my surroundings. I also come up with things to paint when I am trying to fall asleep at night, when my brain won’t close up shop. I love my art style, no matter how peculiar it can be at times.
“My writing is always fictional. I love writing about the animals I paint, who are also my stuffed animals. When I write about them, it is always my strange writing style. I also write about people. When I do, it is usually fantasy. Time intrigues me, so some of my stories are focused around some type of time-element. Magic also intrigues me, so that is basically always in my writing, even if there is just a small hint of it.
“Did I miss anything? Oh, I nearly forgot! I also love things with nothing to do with art and writing, such as my pets, vacations, food, etc. etc. I like to paint my toes (so I guess that is art-ish), so you might see some fun designs. I like vintage and retro things, like old cameras and 1920s flapper dresses.
“Thank you for coming to have a drink with me. It was so nice to meet you, I enjoyed it!”
